ROUTINE TRACKING OF CLINICAL VARIABLES CAN IMPROVE TRACKING OF RECOVERY

Post-operative pain as well as other clinical variables should be regularly assessed and recorded on the ward.1,2 The assessment of additional clinical variables is important, since it can improve tracking of recovery.2 It makes sense to assess:

Pain severity - at rest
- on movement
Impact of pain on - sleep
- mood
- appetite
- mobility
Signs of complications - nausea
- vomiting
- pruritus
- etc.
